RECENT WORK - BUILT TO LAST

RECENT WORK

We believed (and bought) in Brooklyn long before the current boom; and like all prescient early adopters, we were rewarded. Yet, even accounting for its dizzying upward price spiral, choice Brooklyn property maintains its appeal to us, even as we approach our third decade here as residents and investors.

Brooklyn's vibrant mix of neighborhoods, upwardly striving populace, fantastic entertainment, restaurant and nightlife, miles of waterfront, mixed-use residential and commercial real estate, proximity to the financial and cultural base of Manhattan; all of these things are just as true now as they were in the 90's. With each passing year, Brooklyn becomes a stronger and more self-sufficient economic power-house in its own right. Its cultural, political, religious, and educational institutions are second to none. And we are still buyers.

Our buying focus has sharpened over the years to a certain type of "historic" property: generally Pre-War, (or older) but more importantly, and harder to define, imbued with a high level of craft, construction, artistic, and/or build quality.

Although we hold many properties, our two most recent projects are the Church of St Michaels on Adelphi Street, and the Furniture Warehouse on Lexington Avenue. Several millions of dollars, and countless hours of work have gone into their complete structural rehab, thus preserving their unique character.

When we restore a building, we do it correctly. Our core team of craftsmen utilize whatever is required in time, effort, and expense to preserve, restore, and make new again these wonderful buildings. Of course there are cheaper and faster ways to do it, but this is not why we are in this line of business.
